At the meeting of the International Discussion Club “VISION 3000”, the theme of which was: “Ethnocultural and linguistic diversity of the peoples of Russia and friendly countries”, took part Dmitriev Nikolay – PhD, Associate professor, ambassador of the Russian Society “Knowledge”, expert and author of the project “Knowledge.Wiki.” Topic: “The role of national languages in the creation of the encyclopedic Knowledge project.Wiki.”
Russia is involved in a monstrous information war, during which all identities — religious, national, ethnic – are being crushed. In this war, it is decided which value systems will coexist. And if we take into account the fact that modern people are information-hungry and they are looking for landmarks and supports on the web, then it becomes very important, in these conditions, not only to resist all the challenges and threats that exist, but also to be able to access reliable and verified sources of information that are not subject to negative influences and influences speaking honestly and boldly about the most important things and, above all, about their country, its history and its citizens.
In a series of such resources, a special place is occupied by the digital library of educational content implemented by the Russian Society “Znanie” Znanie. Wiki”, the creation of which was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2022 in order to improve the quality of content and increase the reliability of text materials on the Internet, strengthen Russia’s information sovereignty.
The encyclopedic and journalistic articles collected in the project play an important role in the development of the regions of the Russian Federation, contributing to the promotion of their unique potential.
We tried to analyze this and identified several key areas of importance for such cooperation:
Information and education
The articles created by the volunteer authors provide objective, independent, expert-verified information about culture, history, unique natural and biodiversity, economy and social sphere of the regions. They describe almost all aspects of life. This helps not only local residents, but also tourists, researchers and investors to better understand the uniqueness of each region.
Formation of the image of the region
The articles created can tell about achievements, events, people, enterprises, local and regional peculiarities and color, which contributes to the formation of a positive image of the region. Well-written materials can draw attention to local initiatives and cultural events.
Tourism promotion
Articles about the cultural attractions, traditions and events of the region can be a powerful tool for attracting tourists. This, in turn, contributes to the development of the regional economy.
Support for local businesses
Publications about local entrepreneurs and their products can help promote the business.
Preservation of cultural heritage
Encyclopedic articles can contribute to the preservation and popularization of cultural heritage, helping to preserve traditions and customs for future generations.
Discussion of social issues
Journalism can raise important social issues, drawing attention to problems and possible solutions, which can stimulate public debate.
Creating a community
Online resources containing articles about regions can contribute to the creation of virtual communities where residents can exchange opinions, share experiences and support each other.
Education and research
Encyclopedic articles serve as a source of information for students and researchers, which contributes to the development of scientific research and educational programs in the regions. Thus, encyclopedic and journalistic articles are important tools for the development of Russian regions, contributing to their integration into the broader cultural and economic context of the country.
Preservation of linguistic diversity
The strategic objective of the project is to create encyclopedic information in the languages of the peoples of Russia. This will not only preserve the identity and foundations of the statehood of multinational Russia, but also provide ample opportunities for the support and development of linguistic diversity.
In addition, one of the distinctive characteristics of the project is “Knowledge.Wiki” is his, truly, national identity. After all, every person, a resident of the region, a caring and interested citizen can become the author of a unique and popular article. But besides the authors, we need people who will become guides and popularizers of the project. After all, such a large-scale social project cannot be systematically implemented without ideologically motivated activist ambassadors of the encyclopedia. This role can be performed by representatives of educational organizations at all levels – from kindergartens to universities, representatives of government and local self-government, public figures.
The most important task of these people will be not only to popularize the project, but also to involve an increasing number of authors, editors, experts, mentors – all those who create the most modern and relevant digital encyclopedia in our country.
Actually, our final thesis boils down to the following: in the information competition observed today between different types of media, such projects as “Knowledge” are operating successfully and achieving quite impressive results. Wiki.”
The cooperation of the regions with the project will certainly give a new impetus to the promotion and socio-economic prosperity of the subjects of the Russian Federation.
