During the meeting of the International Discussion Club “VISION 3000”, the topic of which was: “Information support for the implementation of the state policy of the Russian Federation”, was attended by Oksana Olegovna Ganzha, Speech technologist, radio presenter, member of the CIS Speakers Association, lecturer at the Russian Znanie Society, popularizer of anti-stress tapping.
Oksana Olegovna highlighted the topic: “Communication and information strategies in the context of preserving Russia’s cultural diversity. The principle of mutual respect and emotional balance.”
Representatives of more than 190 peoples and related cultures live on the territory of the Russian Federation.
How to find a common language of meanings and values? How to build communications and what to broadcast through information sources and social networks so that cultural diversity is preserved?
“Respect each other, not forgetting that each person has a wise power of the builder hidden in them and that it must be given free rein to develop and flourish” — quote from the great Russian writer Maxim Gorky from correspondence with the great Soviet teacher Anton Semenovich Makarenko.
The principle of mutual respect cannot be overestimated. This is the principle of respect for the diversity of cultures, traditions, and peculiarities that unites our multinational country. And returning to Maxim Gorky, respect leads to common prosperity and development.
How can this be implemented in practice? Mass media, journalism, and responsible blogging involve influencing large groups of people, so let mutual respect become the leitmotif.
It is necessary to actively inform about the specifics of the traditional culture of the peoples of Russia, about the brightest and most prominent representatives of ethnic groups, and to do this in the context of respect.
And here we are faced with a new challenge – these are the communicative features of modern times.
On the one hand, the so-called “clip thinking” of the younger generation, who grew up with gadgets in their hands, leads to the fact that the ability to maintain concentration for a long time decreases annually.
Long educational programs are unlikely to interest the younger generation, but the format of bright, spectacular videos highlighting the diversity of our country is capable of this. If we add similar information about cultural diversity and customs among the advertisements, it would strengthen our society.
And the second challenge. Ratings require broadcasting emotional outbursts in the style of “scandals, intrigues, investigations,” as well as fights and the like. It’s rocking an emotional boat. In the short term, it attracts the attention of the audience. But in the long run, this leads to a new norm of emotional instability in society, to intemperance and intolerance. Instead of using raised tones and insults in various shows, the principle of emotional balance seems to be a much better strategy, which should be understood as restrained and well-mannered communication.
If we choose to convey respect and calm attitude towards our interlocutors in our communications and media tools, then as a result we will receive a new ethical norm of the society’s culture.
I can tell you about my experience. I’m filming my first anti-stress show, “Drowning for Tapping,” which aims to help normalize the emotional state of the hero and the audience. I also host the radio program “Rhetorical Question”, where we discuss important and pressing topics with experts in a gentle and positive way. And I’m developing a blog about anti-stress methods, showing self-regulation techniques. This is what I call an emotional balance communication strategy.
And in conclusion, I want to recall the words of Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev.
“We cannot predict,
How our word will respond…”
So let these be words of respect and peace in a Great country!
